The US Embassy urges US citizens to avoid visiting some places in Armenia

The US Embassy in Armenia issued a reminder about travel restrictions during the summer tourist season.

"As the summer tourist season begins in Armenia, the US Embassy in Yerevan reminds US citizens that due to the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, US Embassy employees and their family members are prohibited from any non-essential travel to the following locations:

The Tavush region is east of Varagavan on the H37 highway.

To the east of Navur, the Tavush region, on the H36 highway.

The Gegharkunik region east of Vardenis.

Driving through Yeraskh village of the Ararat region is allowed, but stopping is not.

Drive to Jermuk, near Getik, the Vayots Dzor region, on roads H42 and H43.

Syunik Region:

Visits to Nagorno-Karabakh are still prohibited.

US citizens should continue to exercise caution near the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan and avoid travel near the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and the contact line. The US government cannot provide emergency services to US citizens in and around Nagorno-Karabakh due to limited access," the statement said.
