The issue of excluding discrimination in the labor market also remains problematic; HRD

RA human rights defender Anahit Manasyan's congratulatory message on Labor Day.

"Dear compatriots,

On behalf of the Human Rights Defender's staff and myself, I heartily congratulate you on May 1, Labor Day.

This world holiday is meant to glorify work and workers and protect every person's labor rights.

Several problems related to the proper realization of labor rights remain topical in our country.

The studies of the human rights defender's staff and the examination of received complaints allow us to record the need for additional efforts to ensure safe and dignified working conditions, the right to rest, and fair remuneration, including the right to be paid for overtime work.

The issue of excluding discrimination in the labor market also remains problematic. In this regard, it is essential to address the problem of lower participation of women in the labor market to provide effective legal and practical structures for excluding sexual harassment in the workplace. In addition, continuing efforts to ensure the labor rights of persons with disabilities, including an accessible working environment, is paramount.

From this point of view, the Defender also considers it essential to take measures of proper control of the state regarding the provision of labor rights in the private sector, as well as the implementation of measures aimed at increasing the awareness of labor rights among employees and employers.

I wish all of us practical and creative work and emphasize the need for continuous active steps by RA competent bodies to strengthen proper structures to protect labor rights."
