"The opening of the Armenian studies center in Spain is important from several points of view. According to the latest data, more than 10,000 Armenians live in Spain, so a country with such a large Armenian community needs to ensure the continuity of education. The issue of ensuring the visibility of the Armenian language and Armenian culture is also an important component. I am sure that the Armenian studies center can be a strong bridge of cultural dialogue and interstate cooperation between the two states," said Artur Martirosyan and added that shortly it is planned to implement several programs in the field of Armenian studies, in particular, a conference will be organized with the participation of all Armenian studies centers in Europe. to discuss all opportunities for networking and joint research.

Influential representatives of the Armenian community in Spain were also present at the event. They thanked the RA Ministry of Education and Culture and the Embassy for supporting and organizing the center's activities.

On the order of the Rector of the Complutense University of Madrid, Joaquín Goyache Goñi, the university's Armenian lecturer Francisco Zurian Hernández was appointed the director of the unique chair of Armenian Studies of the Complutense University of Madrid. To carry out the academic work of the department, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia will consider the possibility of sending a relevant specialist from Armenia with knowledge of the Spanish language. To organize the educational process of the chair from September 2023, the Armenian side was offered to develop an educational program with a thematic opening (modern history of Armenia, foreign policy, Armenian language).

The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia carries out consistent work in teaching Armenian and Armenian subjects in universities, museum institutes, and centers of foreign countries and promoting Armenological research. This policy will be continuous.
