The book "Syriavep" by Lusine Kharatyan, created within the framework of the "Translation programs and support for creators and researchers" grant program of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, was nominated for the European Union Literary Award.

The EU Literary Prize involves the participating countries of the "Creative Europe" program. It popularizes new literary talents.

By bringing to public attention the creativity of contemporary literature and the richness of fiction in Europe, the EU Literary Prize aims to promote the circulation of literature within Europe and generate greater interest in foreign-language literary works.

National institutions nominated authors and their novels (in our country, the Armenian partner of the EU Literary Award "Pen Armenia"), which are well-acquainted with their countries' literary scene and experienced in spreading their literature abroad.

The jury of the award will choose 2023. The winner of the EU Literary Award and the special prize winners, whose names will be announced in 2023. on April 28 at the Leipzig International Book Fair.

All nominated authors will receive ongoing promotion support on the European platform to reach a broader international audience, connecting with readers beyond their national and language borders.

The EU Literary Award is organized by a consortium of European Book Publishers and European and International Booksellers' Federations, supporting the "Creative Europe" program.

"Syriavep" by Lusine Kharatyan is an adventure work. The events unfold in pre-war Syria, where the main characters, three female researchers from Armenia, visit different places for work and meet and talk with people. Due to all this, they come to the attention of the Syrian special services. The novel was published by "Granish" publishing house.
