Issues related to visa liberalization and migration were discussed

On March 14, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan received the delegation headed by Patrick Svensson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan and Chief of Police Staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Armen Mkrtchyan also participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the ambassador, the Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized that the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Armenia is visiting the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs for the first time, which is a good opportunity to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation.

Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the multifaceted support provided by international partners, especially the European Union, in the overall formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, increasing the efficiency of the police and rescue services.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, noting a number of successful examples of cooperation with the Swedish side, also emphasized the intensive work carried out between the national central bureaus of Interpol of Armenia and Sweden.

In the field of population protection, the "Twinning" program aimed at strengthening the capacities and institutionalization of the Rescue Service implemented by the European Union in the order of joint activities of Sweden-Lithuania, which aims to reduce the impact of various disasters on human life, the country's economy and communities and strengthen disaster risk management, was especially highlighted. abilities.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden Patrick Svensson, thanking for the warm welcome, congratulated Vahe Ghazaryan on his appointment as Minister of Internal Affairs and wished him success.

The ambassador also emphasized the existing cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union. In that direction, the works carried out within the framework of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Eastern Partnership and the OSCE were particularly pointed out. Ambassador Svenson expressed readiness to continue cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, presenting the ministry's formation activities, emphasized the ongoing reforms in the subordinate services: the police, rescue and migration services. He also referred to the certification to be carried out in the police and rescue service, which will contribute to the significant improvement of the social guarantees of the employees.

Armen Mkrtchyan, head of the police headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, presented the programs implemented with the Swedish side, emphasizing the creation of the negotiation police and training courses for officers in that direction.

At the meeting, further directions of cooperation were outlined and issues related to the reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs police, liberalization of visas, political protection and migration, as well as the involvement of women in the services and the fight against corruption were discussed.
