The Armenian Apostolic Church is celebrating the Great Carnival.

On February 19, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Carnival, which begins the Great Lent.

Carnival, one of the moving holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is celebrated from the feast of St. Sargs until Great Lent.

On that day, the priestly class and the people are treated to a sumptuous feast and entertainment to enter the following Lent with a cheerful heart and face the long fasting days. The holiday ends with the Carnival, celebrated on the Sunday before Great Lent. During the carnival, people had fun, sang, danced, threw luxurious tables, dressed in masks, and organized games and performances. Especially creamy dishes, meat, and dairy products were used.
