Last year, Armenia exported more than 400 million dollars worth of processed diamonds

RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told Armenpress that the volumes of processed diamond exports from Armenia are increasing yearly. In 2022, more than 400 million dollars worth of diamonds were exported. According to him, the world's leading diamond companies have started projects to establish processing factories in Armenia, which are now nearing completion.

Referring to the export volume, Kerobyan emphasized that the export from Armenia increased by 77.7 percent last year. The export of many different products supported this growth. Re-export was a significant part. And for re-export, certain processing operations are done on the spot. "Our consistent work in certain categories is already beginning to yield excellent results. For example, I have to mention the diamond industry. In 2020, we had a total export of processed diamonds in the order of 75 million dollars; in 2021 - about 175 million dollars; and in 2022 - more than 400 million dollars. And this year, we are planning even higher indicators because last year, several large diamond companies from the world's leaders started projects to establish processing factories in Armenia, which are now nearing completion. And we think that this year, for example, the work we have done in the field of diamond production is giving a significant result."

The minister considers it probable that these new factories will open in the year's first quarter.

In 2022, the export of jewelry products exceeded 100 million dollars for the first time. According to the minister's assurance, it is due to the government's efforts that there are such results. However, they are still at the beginning of a long journey.
