On January 31, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan received John Gallagher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to RA. Welcoming the guests, Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the importance of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador's visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Then he presented the process of formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the process of reforms implemented in the Ministry, which are aimed at establishing well-mannered, professional, and honestly serving units to the public.
In that context, Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the importance of the patrol service, adding that this year it is planned to introduce the service in the entire territory of the republic. The Minister of Internal Affairs also referred to the crimes committed through the Internet and the work being done to prevent and detect them, stressing that the Criminal Police has formed a reasonably functional unit for combating illegal drug trafficking.
Vahe Ghazaryan, thanking John Gallagher for the multifaceted support he has shown so far, expressed hope that from now on, the United Kingdom Embassy will also support the reforms implemented in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized that the ministry is ready to deepen the cooperation and exchange of experience and bring it to a higher level.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia John Gallagher, thanking for the warm reception, congratulated Vahe Ghazaryan on assuming the position of Minister of Internal Affairs. Afterward, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary presented the programs implemented by the Embassy of the United Kingdom and expressed satisfaction to the Minister of Internal Affairs for highlighting and evaluating them. John Gallagher, referring to the targeted support provided in several areas, said he's willing to continue practical cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, especially in the directions that the Ministry considers to be a priority.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan presented the structure and main functions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the guests, emphasizing the support of the United Kingdom and the experience transferred to the Government of Armenia in the confiscation of property of illegal origin, disaster risk management, improving the professional skills of rescue service personnel, combating cybercrime and other areas. The deputy minister expressed hope that the cooperation will expand, including different essential directions.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Davit Hambaryan presented to the guests the reforms implemented in the field of road traffic safety, stressing the importance of the newly formed control center for electronic video recording systems in crime prevention and detection. Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed at the meeting.
