On January 27, on the birthday of RA People's Artist, composer Tigran Mansuryan, a concert titled "Mansuryan at the Crossroads of Speech and Melody" will be held, during which the works of maestro Mansuryan will be presented. Anthem - Captain Bari", written by Mesrop Mashtots, will be performed in Armenia for the first time. The concert participants are the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, the State Chamber Choir of Armenia, the Yerevan State Chamber Choir, soloist: Tigran Kakhvejyan (baritone), reciter: Babken Chobanyan. Conductor Robert Mlkeyan will lead the evening. The concert is organized within the framework of the international competition of composers named Mansuryan. The project's organizer is the Koghb Foundation, the main sponsor is Fast Bank, and the sponsors are Team Telecom Armenia and Transimpex (FedEx) companies.
Today, the press conference held at the Aram Khachatryan concert hall was dedicated to the upcoming concert and the Mansuryan competition.
Maestro Mansuryan, referring to the concert to be held on January 27, emphasized that it is of particular importance because, on his anniversary, two essential works will be performed for the first time, which is extremely exciting for him. One of the works, based on the Mashtots hymns, was written by the composer on the order of one of the Czech orchestras and was performed for the first time last year. The author noticed that his dream was to write a melody for his natives, "I was young when I wrote my four natives for voice and piano. I had a constant demand to address my natives again. We have been cooperating with Mlkeyan for many years, which was a good basis for continuing this work with new works. As a result, we have "8 homelands of love, hospitality, and moonlit nights", said Tigran Mansuryan.
Maria Petrosyan, director of "The Koghb" Foundation, emphasized that with this initiative, they aim to highlight poetry and music again, trying to inspire especially young composers in the image of maestro Mansuryan. She mentioned they would do everything to make the international composer's competition named after Mansuryan an annual event.
According to Garegin Darbinyan, Deputy Executive Director and Development Director of Fast Bank CJSC, the main sponsor of the Mansuryan International Competition, the founders of FastBank have always supported various cultural events, which have become part of their strategy. Such platforms are significant for Armenia, and if we want big-name musicians in the future, an appropriate environment must be created. And to achieve this critical vision, support is needed, which they do. Being a modern technology company, FastBank considers that it should be close to classical art, culture, and history, which gives excellent impulses during their work.
RA People's Artist conductor Robert Mlkeyan emphasized in his speech that the concert to be held on January 27 differs from other shows in responsibility because Mansuryan dedicated the songs to be performed during the evening to himself. "I am one of the lucky ones to whom Tigran Mansuryan gave a score that will be played on that important day. We should be happy working with such a person all the time."
Referring to the international competition of composers named after Tigran Mansuryan, Robert Mlkeyan said that the jury composition had a challenging task, "Composers participating in the competition must study poetry deeply. They should write such works that try to become a national value in the future. To serve that purpose, the competition will probably be a little complicated. We have young people who write wonderfully."
Hayk Yesayan, director of Team Telecom Armenia and member of the board of trustees of the competition, noted that the company continues to support programs to develop Armenian culture and discover new talents, "During a difficult period for the Armenian people, Komitas spread our culture through music, making it one of the important components of the Armenian identity. Now we are obliged to contribute to the continuity of his work, and for that purpose, we have joined the competition's organizing team."
