"Our mission is to leave a peaceful homeland for our children," Alain Simonyan

RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan sent a New Year's message during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

"Dear compatriots, the year 2022 has come to an end. It has been a complex and challenging year for all of us. The world is in wars and constant upheavals. Rules that have been in effect for centuries are changing before our eyes. A new world order is being formed, and it is all-natural to us; it does not bypass us.

Yes, in 2022, we had many achievements in the economy, diplomacy, state-building, and other fields, but many important issues remain unresolved. The point of our prisoners of war, the case of the withdrawal of enemy forces that invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia, and the most urgent issue of protecting the rights of our compatriots living in Artsakh have not yet been fully resolved. Even now, 120,000 of our compatriots are still hostages in their homes.

In other words, the security problem of the Armenian people still needs to be solved. This is our primary challenge. The main work of the past year was focused on this issue, and we will work in that direction in the coming year 2023 because our mission is to leave a peaceful homeland for our children, and we will achieve it together.

And today, the last day of 2022, I want to assure you that we will fulfill our mission together. May 2023 bring prosperity to our homes, may our soldiers return home soon, and may our homes be full of love and comfort. May the coming year bring us all happiness and make our dreams come true. God help us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
