"Armenian-Chinese cooperation has developed steadily." Governor of Gegharkunik

The governor wrote on his Facebook page that on December 13, the Gegharkunik region Governor Karen Sargsyan received Fan Yong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, to Armenia.

"I received Fan Yong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Armenia, the representative of the Ministry of Defense of China, the military attaché, and other officials who arrived in the region on a familiarization visit with the head of Gavar community Gurgen Martirosyan.

I presented to the ambassador the history of the Gegharkunik region, the multi-sector investment projects implemented in the area with the support of the RA government, and the potential of the region's economy; I presented the situation in the border settlements of the region as a result of the latest Azerbaijani aggression, expressing the hope that China will also support solving the security problems created in the border areas of the region through peaceful negotiations. The visit of PRC Ambassador Fan Yong can be the best start for designing and developing cooperation.

As we know, this year marks the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of China, for which I congratulate all of us, even though Armenian-Chinese ties have a history of thousands of years. During these years, Armenian-Chinese cooperation has developed steadily. I would like to establish decentralized cooperation between the Gegharkunik region and any region or city of the Republic of China. Gegharkunik Governorate is ready to create a reliable platform for this cooperation and to support the implemented programs within the limits of possibility and authority.

For his part, PRC Ambassador to Armenia Fan Yong expressed his willingness to support the creation of decentralized cooperation, noting that during the last 30 years, Armenian-Chinese relations have been at a higher level. The People's Republic of China has established cooperation with Armenia in various fields of the economy and taking into account the opportunities and potential of the Gegharkunik region; there is a desire to expand the newly formed cooperation, especially in the field of agriculture and tourism.

Then I accompanied the ambassador of the People's Republic of China and the delegation led by him to Gavar Agricultural College, where we observed the activities of milk and dairy products processing, auto transport, anatomy and physiology laboratories. With the support of Ambassador Fan Yong, the Chinese language learning process will be organized by the students of secondary school No. 2, Chinese literature will be provided to the school, and the best students will be encouraged.

The visit ended at the Mikayelyans' family cheese factory in Gavar's Artsvakar district, where the guests got acquainted with the methods of making locally produced cheese. At the invitation of Fan Yong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Armenia, we will visit the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Armenia shortly to discuss the upcoming tasks."
