The issuance of biometric passports to RA citizens will be temporarily suspended
Until January 1, 2024, the issuance of biometric passports to RA citizens will be suspended.
RA Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanyan presented the bill in the National Assembly, informing, "Temporarily, until January 1, 2024, the issuance of biometric passports to RA citizens is suspended until biometric passports equipped with future generation technologies and security conditions are created, and the old passports are gradually replaced with new ones.".
According to him, it is planned to extend the period of issuing passports until December 31, 2023, provided for by the relevant decision of the RA Government of December 25, 1998, and to give identification cards without electronic storage until the conclusion of the RA Government defines their identity. "ID cards with electronic storage are planned to be issued until February 15, 2023, and identification cards without electronic storage from February 15, 2023."
