Car importers will be freed from redundant administration and unnecessary financial losses.
The executive has adopted a relevant decision to develop the vehicle import sector and solve the existing problems in that sector. As a result, vehicle importers (individuals and legal entities) will be freed from unnecessary administration and financial losses.
According to the rationale, customs clearance of vehicles imported into RA is not carried out at the RA border during importation. Still, it is carried out far from the RA border in other settlements (for example, in Sisian and Gyumri and importing vehicles by organizations in the town of Yerevan). After which only the means of transport receive a "Temporary" number plate from the customs body performing customs clearance.
Very often, cars imported to RA have to use the services of car evacuees to get them from the border to the places of customs clearance. Importers have to pay quite a large, often arbitrary, and unreasonable amount for car evacuation, even when cars are in good condition and can drive to the place of customs clearance. Accordingly, it is proposed to authorize the customs authorities at the border of the Republic of Armenia with authority to assign "Temporary" type license plates to vehicles imported into the Republic of Armenia and subject to state registration.
