The 4th mobile diagnostic clinic was opened in the National Center of Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health within the framework of the International Day of Combating AIDS.
It was donated to Armenia by the RF aid program with the support of the regional non-governmental organization "AIDS infoshare.(SPID infosvyaz')"
The event was attended by Lena Nanushyan, the First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia, Roza Babayan, the head of the United Nations HIV/AIDS Program, Zhenya Mayilian, the president of the "Real World, Real People" NGO, and other guests:
The conference entitled "International AIDS Day as a new opportunity to unite efforts" was also held within the framework of the event.
First Deputy Minister Lena Nanushyan singled out the programs implemented by the Armenian government and the Ministry of Health to make HIV testing more accessible. "This program is just one of those steps, which provides an opportunity to provide HIV testing to our population through visits to mobile diagnostic clinics in remote areas and villages. Unfortunately, HIV cases are increasing all over the world, as well as in Armenia. And, of course, it is gratifying that we can already detect cases. Suppose people are informed about their status earlier and receive the d are provided free of charge by the center. In that case, they can live a quality life for many years without having any health problems." said Lena Nanushyan.
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin noted that for Russia, the fight against AIDS and other infections is one of the primary issues of international humanitarian cooperation. Hence, the program aims to reduce the spread of infectious diseases in Armenia.
The experts presented the current state of HIV/AIDS in RA and the works being done in the direction of prevention, outlined the upcoming plans, and emphasized the implementation of joint initiatives and the pooling of opportunities to fight AIDS more effectively.
