The EU has undertaken to provide financial and technical support to Armenia

Nune Hovhannisyan, vice president of the Central Electoral Commission, participated in the 12th session of the RA-EU Human Rights Dialogue in Brussels. The discussion focused on cooperation in protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms in various platforms, particularly in the UN, OSCE, and Council of Europe.

The dialogue covered a wide range of topics. Also, thoughts were talked about positive developments recorded in the field of human rights protection in Armenia, directions for improvement, and plans for further improvement of the electoral system.

CEC presented, among other issues, the following primary directions for improvement: improvement of equal gender representation, improvement of participation of persons with disabilities, fair and balanced coverage of the election process and pre-election campaign, and mechanisms for resolving campaign financing control.

The EU is committed to continuing to provide financial and technical assistance to Armenia in critical areas of human rights, particularly in the implementation of the human rights provisions of the GCC.
