The high-level meetings between Armenia and the Holy See clearly show effective dialogue. Ararat Mirzoyan

On October 25, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in the Vatican on an official visit, met with Pietro Parolin, the State Secretary of the Holy See.

Emphasizing that the visit is taking place in the 30th anniversary year of establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and the Holy See, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that bilateral relations based on Christian values and historical and cultural ties are dynamically developing. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized Pietro Parolin's significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

It was noted that the continuous high-level visits and meetings between Armenia and the Holy See are clear evidence of effective dialogue. The interlocutors also discussed the possibilities of closer and expanding cooperation on international platforms, taking into account the identical approaches of the parties to urgent issues of the global agenda.

During the meeting, the RA Foreign Minister presented the positions of the Armenian side on the issues of security and stability in the South Caucasus.

Foreign Minister Mirzoyan drew the interlocutor's attention to the consequences of the latest aggression carried out by the armed forces of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia, emphasizing the imperative of the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces, the immediate repatriation of all Armenian prisoners of war and the unconditional maintenance of the ceasefire regime.

The Armenian side emphasized that the main obstacle to establishing peace in the region is Azerbaijan's extremist ambitions and aspirations to solve problems through the use of force or the threat of using energy.

A reference was made to the issues of protection of Armenian spiritual and historical cultural monuments from identity distortion and destruction in the territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that until now, Azerbaijan has been preventing the visit of the UNESCO assessment mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and neighboring areas.
