The attack was from Azerbaijan; they did not invade from the planet Mars. CE rapporteur to Alen Simonyan

On October 21, RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan received Andrey Kovachev, rapporteur on Armenian affairs of the European Parliament.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, in the person of the guest, expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for adopting relevant resolutions and reports in favor of Armenia.

Issues related to the Armenian-hating rhetoric, the destruction of Armenian cultural and religious heritage, and the repatriation of prisoners of war and civilians were discussed at the meeting.

Referring to the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia, the parties noted that an attempt was made to move the issue of conflict settlement from the negotiation table to the military field, turning it into large-scale aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia. Andrey Kovachev noted that this is not a case where it is necessary to call on the parties to cease fire. "The attack was by Azerbaijan. Naturally, they did not invade the territory of Armenia from the planet Mars," he added.

"We have been warning for a long time and many times about a new war from the Azerbaijani side, and we expect from our international partner's targeted statements condemning the actions of Azerbaijan," Alen Simonyan said in response. He emphasized that he highly appreciates the continuous mediating efforts of the European Union and the arrival of the EU observation mission at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

At the end of the meeting, the parties also discussed the report to be published by the CE shortly.
