Syunik's regional administration office reports that on October 20, the European Union's technical evaluation mission delegation visited Syunik. Its members were welcomed in the region center by Hayk Harutyunyan and Nare Ghazaryan, deputy governors of Syunik.
During the meeting held at the regional administration, which was also attended by the Commander of the Special Army Corps, Major General Artak Budaghyan, representatives of the RA Armed Forces and the border guard troops of the National Security Service, the head of the delegation, thanking for the reception, emphasized that the task of this mission is to prepare the deployment of EU civilian observers for two months. In Syunik, monitor the maintenance of the ceasefire regime on both sides and regularly publish reports on this.
To organize all this with maximum efficiency, according to the members of the delegation, it is necessary to involve the local actors in the given process and to cooperate directly with them. The representatives of the Syunik regional government and power structures emphasized that they are ready to support the delegation's work in every matter.
The guests were presented with information about the settlements of the region affected by the large-scale military aggression of Azerbaijan, and, especially, it was emphasized that along the borders of Syunik, Azerbaijan acts not only against the Armenian armed forces but also against the civilian population.
According to Deputy Governor Hayk Harutyunyan, border settlements in Syunik are under immediate threat from Azerbaijani soldiers, and not only the right of residents to live in peace is violated in those places, but also severe psychological problems appear among children.
According to the data provided to the delegation, as a result of the large-scale military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan since September 13, 6 settlements of the region were damaged, 18 residential houses, administrative buildings, citizens' cars, agricultural equipment, and construction equipment of organizations were destroyed, and thousands of small cattle were lost to the enemy. It was emphasized that the death of two civilians recorded in the region died far from the border. The movement of civil ambulances was blocked by the enemy's armed forces with shelling, not allowing them to reach the wounded.
The deputy governors of Syunik also accompanied the delegation members to the Inner Hand of Kapan and the sections leading to Ishkhanasar of Sisian. The guests on the spot reported that Nerkin Hand is surrounded on three sides, and women and children continue to live in the neighboring village. Here, the cemetery was also targeted by the enemy. Problems related to the Tegh community's Srashen, Chakaten, Shikahogh, Verishen, and AknerGorisegh villages of Gorisi and Vaghatur villages were recorded.
Let's remind you that the agreement to deploy a European civilian mission in the territory of Armenia was reached at the beginning of October in Prague during the meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, France, and the European Council.
