The NSS has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the case of smuggling explosives across the EAEU border.
Information was published in the mass media that the explosives used to carry out the terrorist attack on the Red Sea of Crimea on October 8, 2022, were hidden in a truck driven by an RA citizen, who had entered the Republic of Armenia from abroad before that, and then: travel to the Russian Federation.
To verify the authenticity of the received information and to find out all the circumstances of the case, criminal proceedings have been initiated in the investigative department of the RA National Security Service in connection with the apparent instances of aiding international terrorism, smuggling of explosives across the EAEU border by a group of persons with prior consent, and falsification of documents reserving rights, according to the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code. in the framework of which interrogations, seizures, and other investigative and judicial actions were carried out.
The preliminary investigation in the criminal proceedings continues; to find out the actual circumstances of the case, urgent investigative and operational-investigative complex measures are being implemented using all possible means of the legal toolkit, the results of which the National Security Service of RA will provide relevant information to the public, as necessary.
