The delegation, headed by RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, is on a three-day official visit to the Russian Federation. As part of the visit, at the suggestion of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Armenian parliamentarians met on October 11 with the representatives of the "United Russia" ("Единая Россия") faction of the State Duma.
"We are now living in distraught times, which has a direct impact on countries and peoples," RA NA Speaker said at the beginning of the meeting, saying that he expects practical and sincere cooperation from Russian partners in security and achieving lasting peace in the region.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere. The Russian partners pointed out the successful implementation of joint projects; in particular, the interaction of inter-parliamentary social groups was highly appreciated.
The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was discussed. The Speaker of the RA National Assembly informed that yesterday the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired again at the wall. The Armenian side conveyed to the Russian partners the situation created in the resort town of Jermuk due to the Azerbaijani aggression and the damages caused to the infrastructures.
"We, as the ruling party, are ready to hold various formats of discussions and consultations on the issues you have raised," said Vladimir Vasilev, the head of the faction.
Issues related to the life activity of Armenians living in Russia were discussed.
It should be noted that yesterday the delegation led by the President of the National Assembly met with the State Duma of the Russian Federation "Communist Party of the Russian Federation" (КПРФ), "New People" ("Новые люди"), "Just Russia-for the Truth" ("Справедливая Россия-за правду"). and with representatives of Liberal-Democratic (LDPR) parties.
