On September 27, Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan met with the European Court of Human Rights President Robert Spano. ECHR judge Armen Harutyunyan also participated in the meeting.
The Defense Minister expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet and highlighted the work and cooperation with international partners. In her speech, Kristine Grigoryan presented the consequences of Azerbaijani aggression and emphasized the importance of protecting and guaranteeing human rights in severe security threats.
Grigoryan referred to the competence of the Defender of Human Rights to act as a third party in the cases examined at the ECHR, and the work carried out by the Defender's institution in that direction.
Grigoryan also provided the President of the Court with the special report of the Defender on the consequences of Azerbaijan's attack on Armenia, in which, among other things, the cases of torture, inhumane or humiliating treatment recorded during the Azerbaijani attack were analyzed.
Robert Spano presented the statistics of the cases against Armenia in the ECtHR, referring to the significant violations recorded and the steps to be taken by the State in their direction.
The President of the ECHR emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Defender's institution within the framework of the Court's activities, the collection, and the provision of information argued by the Defender.
