Levon Hovhannisyan, the first deputy mayor of Yerevan, met with the delegation led by Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, the chairman of the "France-Armenia" friendship group of the French Senate. Welcoming the guests, Levon Hovhannisyan highly appreciated Luc Devinaz's dedication to the Armenian-French friendship, which is demonstrated by his presence in Armenia these days and his solidarity with the Armenian people.
"Unfortunately, this time, your visit, which was planned for a holiday, coincided with a tough situation, when we are facing the Azerbaijani aggression towards the sovereign territory of our country and its serious consequences. We greatly value the exceptional solidarity and great attention, direct and targeted statements of friendly France at all levels to the Armenian people both during the 44-day war and in the post-war period and the context of Azerbaijan's invasion of Armenia's sovereign territory," the first deputy mayor emphasized.
Regarding the approved projects between Yerevan and French partner cities, Levon Hovhannisyan noted that clear steps are already being taken to move the tasks outlined in several directions to the experimental stage.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the chairman of the "France-Armenia" friendship group of the French Senate, Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, in his turn, noted that even though the nature of the delegation's visit changed, it was also essential for them not to interrupt the visit to Armenia. Referring to the decentralized cooperation and the relations formed between Yerevan and Lyon, Gilbert-Luc Devinaz noticed that many points would enable the implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the city economy.
Within the framework of the meeting, the parties also discussed the development of a new three-year cooperation plan to be launched in 2023 together with Lyon.
