The satellite launched by Armenia works by taking photos

The series of events held within the framework of the "Starmus VI" international festival continues in Yerevan.

On September 8, the 4th day of the festival, it started with several lectures in several educational institutions. As part of the "Starmus" festival, the outstanding scientists who arrived in Armenia performed in platoons at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, the Russian-Armenian University, the American University of Armenia, Yerevan Haybusak University, Shirakatsi Seminary, Gyumri Technological Center, "Ayb" School, Yerevan Komitas Conservatory.

A press conference was also held within the framework of "Starmus" with the participation of First Deputy Minister of BTA Gevorg Mantashyan and co-founder and general director of SATLANTIS, scientist Juan Thomas Hernan, during which they presented details about Armenia's first satellite launched into space, "ArmSat-1". . "The satellite is working, there are photos, but we don't think there is a need to talk about it now. There are reasons. We know that the satellite exists, we know that it works, and we know that it performs actions. Those who will work with the project will know," said Gevorg Mantashyan. Juan Thomas Hernani emphasized that sending the satellite into space was only the first step; the next step will be the creation of the factory of Armenian-made satellites. "Great efforts are needed to develop science in Armenia and Armenia has adopted the right strategy," the scientist noted. The press conference was also attended by the head of the flight electronics department at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Arbi Karapetyan, and aerospace engineer Jean-Jacques Dordain.

As part of the main program of the festival, two conferences and panel discussions were also held in the sports concert complex named Karen Demichyan.

And in the evening, the Starmus science camp started in Freedom Square. It will provide a unique opportunity for children, teenagers, and those simply interested in science to get up close and personal with the latest achievements in various branches of science. The "Science Camp" launched as part of the "Starmus" festival will continue until September 11 in Liberty Square. The "Planetarium" located in the English Park of Yerevan will also organize free screenings within the framework of the Starmus science camp on September 8-11, from 20:00 to 23:00.
