On August 27, at 05:10, the "Charentsavan" medical center reported to the police that two residents (a husband,  57-year-old, and a wife 52-year-old woman with a puncture-cut injury to the forearm) of the village of Arzakan, Kotayk region, were taken to medical care with the diagnosis of "multiple puncture-cut wounds of the neck and abdomen, hemorrhagic shock,"

The 52-year-old woman reported to Charentsavan police that on August 27, around 03:30, a 46-year-old fellow villager entered their bedroom, beat her, stabbed her elbow with a knife, then stabbed her husband several times with the same knife and harmed him. 

To find the 46-year-old resident of Arzakan village, the police went to his address, where they found the body of his 35-year-old wife with her neck partially cut in the bedroom.

Extensive operative-investigative measures were taken to find Zorik Melkonyan, a resident of Arzakan village.
On August 30, around 08:50, a citizen reported to the operational control center of the police to the Kotayk department that a person was killed in the village of Balahovit, and the killer had fled.

At 09:08, the operational control center of the police to the Kotayk department reported that the director of one of the open joint-stock companies called the police and told that an employee was stabbed in the company's production area on the 8th street of Balahovit village and, according to witnesses, the stabber is Zorik Melkonyan, who killed a woman in Arzakan village, and who previously worked in that institution.

Later on, the "Abovyan" medical center reported that the body of a 34-year-old man and a 29-year-old man with stab injuries were taken to the hospital. Hours later, at 00:40 on August 31, the police were alerted by a gas station employee on Yerevanyan street in Abovyan city. He reported that on the night of August 30, between 04:00 and 04:30, Zorik Melkonyan, a resident of Arzakan village, demanded food and cigarettes with the threat of a knife, after which he left. Between 07:00 and 07:30, he went to the same gas station again and demanded money, a tire, a mobile phone card, and money, then left.

As a result of the joint operative-investigative measures and explanatory work of the officers of the central criminal police department, Kotayk regional department, Charentsavan, Kotayk, Hrazdan, and Nairi departments, on September 3, at 03:15, Zorik Melkonyan, a 46-year-old resident of Arzakan village, presented himself to the Charentsavan police department. And he was arrested. He said he killed his wife Seda P. and 34-year-old Sos Gi.and stabbed and injured three people.
The initiated criminal proceedings are ongoing.
