RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the quality of education in Armenia today.
According to the Prime Minister, tens of thousands of children are deprived of the opportunity to receive a quality education in good kindergartens, preschools, and schools. “Vocational education and training institutions are not always accessible to learners and do not always provide appropriate professional qualifications. As a result of this, on the one hand, we have unemployment, and on the other hand, claims about the lack of qualified labor in the country are getting louder and louder.
Our country has no proper university standards; many universities are just in agony; a university diploma does not always mean higher education. As a result, we often hear bewildered complaints that people with sometimes two credentials in higher education cannot find a job and are condemned to poverty. This situation is no longer tolerable because it exists at the expense of the future and is a mine under our future."
Speaking about reforms in education, the Prime Minister emphasized that the plan to build, reconstruct or overhaul 300 schools and 500 kindergartens in Armenia by 2026 has been launched. "As a result of the implementation of this program, even children from remote settlements will have the opportunity to attend high-quality kindergartens, preschools, and schools, which will become a critical factor in the revival of villages.
According to my observation, many villages in Armenia were also emptied because there were no opportunities and prospects for the proper education of children from pre-school age, and parents preferred to leave to create educational options for their children. Now the kindergartens and schools opening in rural areas will become the cornerstone of the revival of a number of our villages."
