Around 100,000 visitors are expected as part of the STARMUS international festival, which will be held in Armenia from September 5 to 10, 2022. The STARMUS festival is considered the only one worldwide with events and speakers of this scale. The events held within the framework of the festival are different. They include lectures and concerts, as well as scientific camps and round tables, which aim to popularize science and make it accessible to a wide range of people, especially students and youth.
During the festival held in Norway in 2017, the Starmus camp had more than 45,000 visitors; in 2022, it is expected to have around 100,000 visitors in Armenia. Previous festivals have hosted 25 Nobel laureates and prestigious speakers such as Stephen Hawking, Neil Armstrong, Hans Zimmer, and others, the STARMUS board of trustees includes world-renowned scientists, musicians, innovators such as Brian May, Emmanuelle Charpentier, Jill Tarter, and Tony Fadel.
In the framework of the STARMUS festival, the prestigious order (medal) of the world-famous scientist Stephen Hawking is also awarded, which recognizes his contribution to the popularization of science. A unique concert program with selected performances is expected during the Hawking Medal presentation ceremony.
Among the remarkable events organized within the framework of the festival are also the 108-minute round table discussion with the participation of Nobel laureates, the Star Party, which will be arranged with the participation of world-famous guests and scientists in Garni, where the telescopes brought to Armenia within the framework of the festival will be located.
