France's experience was presented at the "Climate Budgeting" workshop held in Yerevan

Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan participated in the workshop with the plan "Climate Budgeting" at the UN Armenian office.

The purpose of the workshop organized within the framework of UNDP was to present the actions implemented in the framework of climate change financing, the presentation of French experience of "green budgeting," the development and implementation of an appropriate strategy as a result of comprehensive discussions, which derives from the provisions of the Paris Agreement.

The event was attended by Nona Budoyan, Head of the Ministry's Climate Policy Department, UNDP Deputy Permanent Representative Konstantin Sokolsky, UNDP Climate Change Programs Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan, representatives of the Ministries of Economy of Armenia and France, and other stakeholders.

Deputy Environment Minister Gayane Gabrielyan welcomed the participants, highlighting the importance of holding an event with such a plan and format and emphasizing the financial component of the climate, especially on the eve of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP27.

The Deputy Minister thanked the organizers for bringing together all interested parties around the common agenda of green financing and expressed hope that as a result of the discussions, the challenges and important issues of the sector will be revealed, and the implemented actions and developed methodologies will be discussed.

In his speech, UNDP Deputy Permanent Representative Konstantin Sokolsky noted UNDP's willingness to support ministries and partners in the process of forming and implementing the "green budgeting" strategy, as well as the desire of the Asian Development Bank and Expertise Finance to provide financial support within the framework of financial management reforms.

During the event, information was presented on previous years supporting climate policy, including Nationally Determined Actions/Investments (NDC), public-private partnerships, and other thematic studies.

The French experience of "green budgeting" (50 countries of the world have already adopted "green budgeting") was presented at the event, from the history of implementation, application features, and participating parties to results and monitoring.
