For Abrahamyan, adviser to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia wrote on his Facebook page:
"As the prosecutor's office has already informed, within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated in connection with the explosion and fire incident in the "Surmalu" shopping center on August 14, the supervising prosecutor against four persons (according to part 2 of article 357 of the 2nd RA Criminal Code, fire safety violating the rules or requirements, which negligently caused the death of a person or other serious consequences, 2 - part 2 of Article 165 of the RA Criminal Code - negligently depriving the lives of two or more persons) has triggered a public criminal prosecution.
Charges have been brought against the mentioned persons for committing the above-mentioned criminal acts, and petitions have been submitted to the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan by the body implementing the proceedings regarding the application of detention as a preventive measure against them.
According to the court's decisions, the motions of 3 of the mentioned 4 persons to choose preventive detention against the business people were satisfied, and the actions of the deputy director of the shopping center were rejected.
Yerevan city prosecutor's office received the court decision regarding the latter; the reasoning part was studied. Due to the groundlessness of the judicial act, an appeal was filed against it today.
The investigation in the criminal proceedings continues on a large scale. All the necessary measures are taken under constant forensic supervision (including written instructions to the pre-investigative body to take specific procedural and evidentiary actions in particular directions) to find out all the circumstances of the tragic incident, to find out the full circle of guilty persons, and to reveal the causes of the fire and explosion fully.
Also, in order to eliminate the reasons for the commission of crimes, the conditions that contributed to them, to find out the existence of possible violations of fire protection and safety rules in other similar objects, and to take effective steps to eliminate them if such are recorded, appropriate petitions are sent from the prosecutor's office to the relevant authorities.
