The General Prosecutor's Office of the RA has already informed that as a result of the measures taken in active cooperation with the RA National Security Service, in connection with the 2 cases of apparently going over to the enemy's side, as well as espionage, in the investigative department of the National Security Service of the RA, on August 10, 2022, Article 418 of the RA Criminal Code two separate criminal proceedings were initiated under part 1 of the article and part 1 of article 424.

As a result of the procedural and evidentiary actions taken in the criminal proceedings, evidence was obtained that RA citizens VGh and IV residing in Istanbul, Turkey, were recruited by a foreign state's special services; VGH provided other types of assistance to carry out hostile activities. Gave them, on his initiative, he contacted the employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia. They appealed to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan through different means of communication to renounce the Republic of Armenia's citizenship and obtain citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On August 18, 2022, based on the evidence collected in the mentioned criminal proceedings, the supervising prosecutor decided to initiate public criminal prosecution against IV and VGH according to Article 418, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. A petition was submitted to the General Jurisdiction Court of the city of Yerevan to apply their detention as a preventive measure, which was granted. The decisions were sent to the RA Police to identify the mentioned persons and present them to the body implementing the proceedings. The criminal investigation continues.
