"Professional orientation clubs will be introduced in schools". J. Andreasyan met with the directors of Ararat region

On August 25, the annual August meeting of public schools for the 2022-2023 academic year was held in the Ararat Governorate, which was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.

Arsen Baghdasaryan, head of the general education department of the Central Ministry of Education and Culture; Susanna Azatyan, head of the department of public education and extracurricular programs; Artashes Torosyan, acting director of MESCS, Artak Poghosyan, director of NCEDI, Araxia Svajyan, director of the Republican Pedagogical Psychology Center, the sectoral officials of the ministry, the governor's office and school directors participated in the discussion.

Issues related to preparations for the new academic year were discussed at the meeting. The deputy minister presented the educational system's reforms, noting that before implementing the new state standard of general education, all republic schools' principals, vice-principals, and pedagogues should undergo training.

The standard has been tested since the last school year in the Tavush region of RA public schools. Last year, the standards were tested in the 2nd, 5th, 7th and 10th grades. This year the test will be conducted in the 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 11th grades. From September 2023, the new standard of general education will be introduced in all republic schools in a phased manner.

According to Zhanna Andreasyan, according to the new standard of general education, it is planned to establish new science laboratories in all schools. The new school funding formula provides separate funding for the maintenance and operation of laboratories. Emphasizing the importance of professional orientation in schools, the deputy minister noted that professional orientation clubs would be introduced in all schools according to the new standard.

It was noted that 311 pedagogues from Ararat marz applied to participate in the voluntary certification. According to last year's test program, 22 pedagogues from the region were certified and are already receiving the additional payments and the set high rate.

The deputy minister also presented the regional results of university admissions. This year, 733 out of 961 applicants from the region were admitted to various higher educational institutions.

During the consultation, the deputy minister and other officials answered the questions of the principals, which were related to the improvement of school building conditions, salary increase, the new legislative regulation related to teaching administrative workers, and other issues.
