The RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the UN World Food Program will launch the "Food Cards" pilot program for 100 food-insecure families living in Shirak and Gegharkunik marzes.
Within the program's framework, each member of the beneficiary families will be given AMD equivalent to 19 US dollars per month every 2 months. The program will be implemented in close cooperation with the Unified Social Service, regional governments, and municipal governments to ensure the accuracy of the selection of beneficiaries and the efficiency of the use of food cards.
The partners will jointly carry out a pre-selection of food insecure families with mutually agreed criteria so that the beneficiary families include both local and displaced families from Nagorno Karabakh.
For the implementation of the project, a pilot project agreement was signed between the UNFPA and the World Food Program, within the framework of which food needs assessment, testing of the issuance and uninterrupted use of food cards, as well as evaluation of results will be carried out. The results of the "Food Cards" pilot program will serve as a basis for introducing possible new state support.
The experimental phase of the project will start soon. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will issue an additional announcement, after which residents of Shirak and Gegharkunik marzes will be able to apply to the regional centers of the Unified Social Service.
