Currently, the situation of the epidemic of the coronavirus disease both in the whole world and in Armenia is in a relatively stable state. Gayane Sahakyan, Deputy General Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, said this in a conversation with Radar Armenia, presenting the rate of development of the disease in the Republic, the indicators of vaccination activity, and the probability of outbreaks of new waves.
According to Sahakyan, we have insignificant cases of covid in the republic every week; we have an increase of about ten percent compared to the previous 14 days, and on a seven-day basis - 12 percent.
"Although we have a slight increase, this cannot be the real picture because the tests are not carried out thoroughly, not everyone applies to medical facilities, passes the test," notes the deputy general director of the HCCA and adds that they predict that in September, we will have an increase in new cases in connection with the resumption of the work of educational institutions, and it is approximately observed in the middle of September; "We will have an intensification of covid cases in September," stressed Gayane Sahakyan.
Regarding vaccinations, the Deputy General Director of the HCCA said there is a slight revival due to the activity of cases. Still, the picture is incomparable if we compare it to last year's period.
"Last year, during the same period, around 25,000 doses of vaccination were administered per day, and now the maximum dose reaches 700," Sahakyan warns that booster dose vaccinations' activity index is shallow.
Gayane Sahakyan says that the analyzes show that a long time has passed since the vaccination and the effect of the vaccine weakens over time. The person becomes vulnerable to the coronavirus disease.
"Taking into account this circumstance and taking advantage of the opportunity, I call on our citizens that if a long time has passed and they have not received a booster dose, they should prepare to face a new wave and go to polyclinics to receive the booster dose," urged the Ministry of Disease Control and Prevention.
