Under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Environment, Tigran Gabrielyan, a comprehensive discussion on agenda issues regarding the management of water resources of the Ararat valley and their solutions was held in Masi's municipality.
The deputy minister first welcomed the participants and thanked those present for realizing the importance of the discussed issue and their willingness to find joint solutions. The Deputy Minister noted that the area's water resources management is highly vulnerable regarding the protection of underground water resources, their practical use, and the regulation of deep wells.
In his speech, Tigran Gabrielyan referred to the measures implemented by the Ministry to effectively manage water resources, periodic observations, and steps aimed at improving the legislative field.
The head of the water basin planning management department, Ori Avetisyan, presented statistics regarding the existing deep wells in 12 settlements of the Masis community among the recorded problems. Three hundred thirty-six deep wells were studied in the mentioned settlements, 15 of which are subject to liquidation or conservation by the law.
As a result of an active and constructive discussion, all interested parties highlighted the priorities of the steps for managing underground water resources in the presented settlements. At the end of the debate, the deputy minister expressed hope that the effectiveness of discussions in such a format is inevitable for the benefit of meeting the vital needs of the present and future generations.
