Today, the re-opening ceremony of VH Stone Company of Sisian took place with representatives of the administration of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine and representatives of the RA government.
VH Stone company was founded in 2000. Since 2015, the company has belonged to ZCMC. The enterprise, which previously provided around 120 jobs, ceased operations in 2019 and was not operating for more than three years. This year, the new management of ZCMC made a strategic decision to restart the factory, taking into account the importance of the company to the city of Sisian, as well as part of the program of increasing the efficiency of all enterprises of ZCMC expanding the economic impact.
Preparations for the restart began in May 2022. The factory currently has 40 jobs. The volume of production is 2500 square meters of products per month. The factory has the opportunity to expand its production capacity to 5000 square meters, providing up to 80-100 jobs. Almost 100% of the workers are locals.
The plant's opening ceremony was attended by the general director of ZCMC, the president of the group of Geopromining companies, Roman Khudoli, the RA Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Gnel Sanosyan, the governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan, and the management staff of ZCMC.
Roman Khudoli said at the opening ceremony. "The purpose for which we have gathered here today is essential for the city of Sisian, for this region, for our team, and me personally. Today we are re-opening a factory that will employ tens of people. This is a strategic decision to ensure the restoration of industrial capacities and not to rely only on social programs. Zangezur copper-molybdenum combine reopens this factory, believing that with the opportunity of decent work, the population of this region can build their future and develop their city and region with their own hands and work."
"VH Stone" stone processing plant is the only operating industrial enterprise in Sisian. The products of the factory are exported to the Russian Federation. It is planned to restore exports to several European countries and South Korea.
