In the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated by the Masis investigative department of the Ararat Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, investigative and operational activities are being carried out to find out the circumstances of the terrorist incident in the Masis municipality.

On August 15, 2022, at 5:40 p.m., the report on the incident mentioned above was received from the Operational Management Center of the RA Police and informed that a 36-year-old resident of the city of Masis reported that he had a problem with a group of officials from the same town, adding, that he and 10 other people may die soon. On the same day, at around 9:20 p.m., the same man went to the administrative building of the Masisi municipality, parked his car in front of the entrance, pushed the guard inside, shouted curses, went up to the 4th floor of the building, from where he threw a grenade outside and shot twice. 

As part of the measures taken by the RA Police to neutralize the man, on August 20, 2022, around 00:30, the body of a 36-year-old man was found in the office of the head of the community on the 4th floor of the Masis community hall, with a gunshot wound in the temple area of ​​the head. 

During the field inspection of the incident, in the area in front of the administrative building of the municipality, an explosion center and "Mazda" and "Renault" cars with shrapnel injuries were found.

In connection with the case of the 36-year-old man's suicide, a criminal proceeding was also initiated, which was joined to the above-mentioned criminal proceeding.

During the preliminary investigation, interrogations and confiscations were made, and an expert examination was appointed.

The investigation is ongoing.

N.B. The person suspected or accused of the alleged crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven by the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia by a legally binding judgment of the court.
