Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decision according to which mourning will be announced in Armenia on August 17-18 inclusive.
"In memory of the citizens who died as a result of the fire and explosion that occurred on the territory of Yerevan Canning Factory on August 14, 2022, the Republic of Armenia will declare mourning on August 17-18, 2022 inclusive," the decision says.
On August 14, at 1:23 p.m., the National Crisis Management Center was alerted that an explosion and fire occurred in the "Surmalu" shopping center located at 15 Arshakunyats Street in Yerevan, as a result of that the three-story building partially collapsed. According to the latest data, there are 16 victims, 3 citizens are considered missing.
