The Tennessee State Zoo is celebrating the birth of a baby orangutan, Ruhana, who was born via cesarean section.
C-sections are extremely rare for orangutans, prompting zoo officials to assemble a team of veterinarians, obstetricians, and nurses.
After the surgery, they are being given temporary extra care while their mother recovers. The zoo said the pair will remain out of public view for the time being.
