The US is returning to the Moon

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order, “Ensuring American Space Supremacy,” aiming to strengthen the country’s position in space.

The document calls for the return of American astronauts to the Moon by 2028 and the start of construction of a permanent lunar base by 2030. The plan also includes deploying nuclear reactors in Earth orbit and on the Moon, with one ready for launch by 2030.

The order emphasizes the development of space defense capabilities, testing new missile defense technologies by 2028, and the promotion of the space economy, to attract at least $50 billion in investments by that date. The document also reaffirms the creation of private space stations in Earth orbit by 2030 and cancels the executive order on space policy issued by former President Joe Biden.
