Tourists climb Mount Etna to watch volcano erupt (PHOTOS)

On February 11, 2025, Mount Etna's eruption intensified, causing powerful lava flows and ash emissions that disrupted air traffic in Sicily.

Local media reported that tourists traveled to the Sicilian volcano Etna over the weekend, approaching its crater and witnessing a new eruption.

The mayor of Adrano, one of the towns closest to the volcano, has banned people from approaching the lava flows. However, the restrictions have not deterred visitors. Professional guides accompany most tourists, but the head of the Sicilian civil protection department has urged visitors not to park their cars on narrow roads that could block the passage of emergency services.

The regional civil protection has deployed volunteer teams that can provide necessary assistance.
