"It is strange that Tigranashen has the status of an enclave;" Hamo Sukiasyan (VIDEO)

Historian Hamo Sukiasyan is the guest of the "Radar Chat" program at the Radar Armenia booth. He referred to the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, spoke about the causes of the emergence of enclaves, the grounds of problems between the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, and the 1991 Alma Ata declaration.

"The enclaves appeared in the 1930s. At least from the documents I know, I can assume that in the early 1930s, 1931-1932, the enclaves of Verin Voskepar, Soflu Barkhudar, and Bashkend-Artsvashen already existed. In the case of Kyarki, it happens a little later. We can state that in 1933 that territory had already passed to Nakhichevan, but enclave status was visible already in the late 1930s, at least on maps. As far as documents are concerned, Kyarki is unique in that there is no document as such. And most importantly, during the Armenian-Azerbaijani border disputes in the 1920s and 1930s, the issue of Kyarki was never raised because this village is located quite far from the border. Kirk has been uninhabited since the 1910s, and the first population, at least in my documents, dates back to 1926. during the December 16-17 census. It is strange to me that Kyarki has the status of an enclave. The reason for this is simply unclear."
