Armen Petrosyan, an expert on regional issues, is the guest of the "Radar Chat" program at the Radar Armenia booth. He referred to the security challenges of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh; in this context, he talked about Armenian-Russian relations, CSTO statements, and Russian peacekeepers.
- How effective is the presence of Russian peacekeepers?
- The efficiency issue is doubtful, but we must understand the alternative. Do you know if it exists? By and large, there is none. How did the role or deployment of Russian peacekeepers take place? It happened in the conditions of reality when Russia itself tried to stop the 44-day war. In other words, no other player tried objectively preventing it except for calls and some statements. Even now, I do not see the interest of any other external actor or international organization to concentrate some forces here. For this, implementing a new large-scale war against Artsakh can be a prerequisite when Russia cannot fulfill its obligations. Still, even then, Artsakh can be occupied entirely by Azerbaijan in a few days. In that case, we can see the launch of some international mechanisms, but I need to estimate the effectiveness.
