"Aliyev will have to throw in the towel to the Russian peacekeepers and go to war with them as well." Safaryan (VIDEO)

Radar Interview

16 March, 20:00

Styopa Safaryan, head of the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs, is the "Radar Chat" program guest at the Radar Armenia booth. He referred to the security issues of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and commented on the statements made by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, at the March 14 press conference.

"I will not repeat the thesis of the opposition that Armenia has washed its hands of Artsakh. There is no such thing. Like it or not, Armenia remains the guarantor of Artsakh's security, regardless of whether the Armenian authorities speak about it loudly. But, in a big way, the responsibility for Artsakh was placed on Russia. Artsakh can be said not to say, handed over to Russia. Still, it is now more difficult for Aliyev to take it from Russia than from Armenia because of a Russian plan with imperial ambitions. But the fact that Russian peacekeepers have come to be stationed in Artsakh "for life" on a long-term basis, so that not only Armenia is in the Russian orbit, but also Azerbaijan returns to the Russian orbit, is an undeniable reality. Therefore, in this respect, you are right. No matter how much Aliyev shifted the pressure from Armenia to Artsakh, he is dealing with the Russian wall there. There, he will have to throw in the towel on the November 9 statement, that is, withdraw from that statement, throw in the towel to the Russian peacekeepers and unleash a war against the Armenian population of Artsakh and also against Russia."
