Ambassadors of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the US participated in the discussion on TRIPP

The Ambassadors of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan and Khazar Ibrahim, participated in a roundtable discussion on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative, the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) said in a statement.

The event, organized by USACC, was also attended by the Ambassadors of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in Washington, as well as senior US government officials and business representatives. During the meeting, the parties discussed the role of the TRIPP initiative in strengthening regional connectivity and establishing a sustainable US economic presence along the Middle Corridor.

“The peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, brokered by the US administration in August, is a historic breakthrough. TRIPP is a way to ensure the sustainability of this peace by transforming the transit route into an engine of shared prosperity,” said Vinay Chawla, Director of the US Department of State’s Office of International Peacekeeping Operations and Special Envoy for International Peace.

Khazar Ibrahim, in turn, noted that the leaders’ summit held in Washington in August of this year played a historic role in advancing the regional peace process.

“Azerbaijan has long promoted the principles of connectivity and cooperation, establishing strong partnerships with Turkey, Georgia, and the countries of Central Asia. Ensuring the success of the TRIPP project as a key component of the Middle Corridor is important,” he said.

The Armenian ambassador stressed that US participation will help ensure that the initiative brings tangible benefits to the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and other regions.

The report also states that the meeting was attended by representatives of the private sector, including Google, Bechtel, and Tetra Tech, as well as regional trade associations, to share industry perspectives and highlight the growing interest of American companies in the trade and investment opportunities opened by TRIPP and related regional initiatives.
