Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan confirms that the issue of exporting oil and oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia was discussed recently in Gabala with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
In response to a question from RFE/RL about whether Yerevan and Baku have already agreed on importing fuel from Azerbaijan, the Deputy Prime Minister replied today: "Yes, there have been discussions, there are opportunities for cooperation."
RFE/RL also asked the Deputy Prime Minister what volumes of Azerbaijani fuel imports are in question, which Armenian companies intend to buy oil from Azerbaijan, at what price Azerbaijan is ready to sell oil and oil products to Armenia, and whether it will be competitive with fuel imported from Russia. In response to these questions, Mher Grigoryan noted:
"Further developments related to fuel are already within the scope of cooperation between private exporters and importers, and the terms of possible transactions will be market-based," the Deputy Prime Minister replied.
In addition to importing Azerbaijani fuel, what other areas of mutual trade are Armenia and Azerbaijan discussing? Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan did not give a specific answer to this question, only noting that "discussions on other products are still ongoing."
