The President of Iraq emphasized the importance of implementing the TRIP project
Within the framework of his working visit to Turkmenistan, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with President of the Republic of Iraq Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the agenda of Armenia-Iraq bilateral relations.
The presidents emphasized the importance of sustained efforts to advance the dynamic development of Armenian-Iraqi relations, expand political dialogue grounded in mutual trust, and deepen practical cooperation.
The interlocutors exchanged views on initiatives implemented to strengthen regional security, peace, and stability. President Vahagn Khachaturyan presented the vision of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, emphasizing the broad potential of the program’s implementation as a pillar of regional communication, connectivity, and inclusive economic development.
In this context, the parties noted that regional stability and connectivity are crucial to expanding transport and economic opportunities. The importance of implementing the TRIP project and fully operating all communication channels was emphasized.
During the meeting, special attention was also paid to the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, which could become an essential achievement for both sides.
The parties attached importance to expanding bilateral economic cooperation, emphasizing the deepening of trade, investment, and other areas of mutual interest, as well as the ongoing promotion of initiatives to strengthen business ties.
The organizational and substantive issues of the COP-17 conference of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Armenia in 2026 were also discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of having such high-level international events as an essential platform for overcoming global environmental challenges and deepening international cooperation.
The parties positively assessed the dynamics of high-level mutual visits and the high level of political dialogue that has developed in recent years, emphasizing the continued development of these trends.
