Yerevan denies Baku's claims

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has responded to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement that the new strategic partnership agenda signed by Armenia and the European Union contradicts the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In a comment to “Armenpress” on the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s statement, the RA Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ani Badalyan noted:

“Let us emphasize that the strategic partnership agenda of Armenia-EU reflects the content of the bilaterally formed and deepening partnership between Armenia and the European Union, based on shared values and mutual interests. It reflects not only the European aspirations of Armenia's citizens, but also the EU’s commitment to supporting sovereignty, territorial integrity, democracy, and socio-economic resilience. It is obvious that this, in itself, only contributes to further efforts to consolidate peace in the region.

I want to add that the strategic agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership, on which the Armenia-EU bilateral negotiations were, by the way, concluded in principle back in June, includes our shared vision for the future and reflects the common commitment to strengthening stability, prosperity, and peace in the region.

It is noteworthy that in the joint statement adopted as a result of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council held on the same day, in addition to the support expressed on other occasions, the EU welcomed the historic milestone reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the Peace Summit held in Washington in August this year, including the initialing of the Agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The EU reaffirmed its strong support for the further consolidation and institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
