Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced yesterday that as a result of the 2026 parliamentary elections, "all representatives of the previous political elite, who led and led the Republic of Armenia into a trap and kept it in a trap, should be expelled and no longer have a place in the political arena."
"Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, as well as the political forces that were the political facade of the state at that time, should be prohibited by law from engaging in politics, and these parties should be dissolved," Ruben Mehrabyan, the deputy chairman of the "For the Republic" party, said in an interview with Radar Armenia.
Mehrabyan noted that he supports the Prime Minister's approach and that Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan should not run for office. "I see no other option, because bringing them to the polls again would be unfair to the Armenian people," he emphasized.
Mehrabyan shares the Prime Minister's view that society is "disgusted with the past-present" debate. "Yes, the people are fed up with the debate. The state is obliged to put an end to it, especially when there is a verdict, which is a comprehensive, legal basis for political lustration," he said, emphasizing that other issues are the state's responsibility, which it must fulfill.
