Opening of communications will enable Georgia to establish contact with the Persian Gulf. Khachaturian

President Vahagn Khachaturyan and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili summarized the results of their meetings in Tbilisi with statements for the media.

Statement by President Vahagn Khachaturyan:

"It is a great pleasure to be again in the hospitable land of brotherly Georgia. Once again, I am grateful for the warm hospitality shown to me and my delegation during the visit. I was glad to meet you again after our friendly and constructive meeting in Yerevan. Our meeting once again emphasizes the continued importance of strong, good-neighborly relations between the two countries.

Armenia-Georgia relations, rooted in centuries-old history, traditions, and mutual respect, are of particular importance to Armenia and the Armenian people. The frequency of high-level visits and bilateral contacts in recent times is clear evidence of the intensity of relations between Armenia and Georgia.

The close cooperation of our two states has brought us to a historic milestone, when we raised our collaboration to the level of a strategic partnership. Although it is no secret that our cooperation with Georgia has always been strategic, it has now been formalized at the official level.

Today, I had quite productive and meaningful discussions with my esteemed colleague. During our conversations with President Kavelashvili, we discussed bilateral multi-sectoral cooperation and future steps further to develop the strategic partnership between Armenia and Georgia.

Our discussions also focused on bilateral economic cooperation and a wide range of issues, including transport, tourism, energy, business, investment, culture, education, and youth.

I want to note that Armenia is actively preparing to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity ("COP17") and the 8th Summit of the European Political Community in 2026. We look forward to the Georgian side's participation.

In addition to discussing bilateral agenda issues with the President, we also discussed regional developments.

I have referred to the results of the trilateral meeting held in Washington on August 8 and to the economic opportunities that the unblocking of regional infrastructure will create. The process is entirely consistent with the vision of the "Crossroads of Peace" project presented by the Government of Armenia.

I have reiterated that the institutionalization of peace and connectivity in the region, grounded in the fundamental principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity, is a priority for Armenia. We are confident that the long-term peace and stability established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the complete unblocking of transport and communication routes in the region, including through the "TRIPP" project, will transform the South Caucasus into an effective transit and logistics hub, also contributing to regional and global connectivity.

The opening of regional communications will also provide Georgia with an opportunity to establish a connection with the Persian Gulf, and the operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway with Georgian railways can become an essential component of the Europe-Central Asia links.

Strengthening and ensuring lasting peace, stability, security, cooperation between states and peoples, and building a prosperous future are the typical responsibilities of the international community.

Summing up my speech, I want to thank you for the warm welcome extended to the Armenian delegation and to reaffirm my commitment, as the President of the Republic of Armenia, to expand further and deepen cooperation between Armenia and Georgia.
