“The United Kingdom is following the situation in Armenia, which is related to the relationship between the Armenian government and the Armenian Apostolic Church,” Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe and North America, said in a recent session of the United Kingdom Parliament.
He made the remarks in response to a question from Brendan O’Hara, a Scottish MP.
According to the Minister of State, “We expect all actions to be in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Armenia, ensuring due process and fair treatment for all. We expect the judicial proceedings to be open and impartial.”
Doughty also noted that his country’s government “will continue to strongly support the protection and promotion of the rights to freedom of religion or belief worldwide.”
