“There is an important feature about the continuation of the railway from east to west. Our perception and desire is that entering from Azerbaijan through Meghri to Nakhichevan, then continuing to Yeraskh, is important for the exploitation of the railway to the Turkish border, Akhurik. We have a very short section for restoration. We have already started working on it,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, construction of the Kars-Dilijan railway, which is the railway from Kars to Nakhichevan, has begun in Turkey. “Our position, which we share with our partners, is the following: this epoch-making turning point, the Washington Peace Summit, is an opportunity not to spend several billion dollars here if it will be possible to provide the same route here via the Akhurik-Yeraskh route, and of course, we are working in that direction, to form such an understanding and agreement,” he said.
